Information
Introduction
Shottr is a lightweight and fast screenshot tool designed for Mac, with annotation, scrolling screenshots, and cloud upload features, optimized for Apple silicon. The app is small (1.6MB dmg file, 3.6MB decompressed) and runs very smoothly on the M1 chip, capturing screenshots in just 17ms and displaying them in about 165ms. Shottr is probably the only free scrolling screenshot app on Mac that can capture long web pages or chat conversations. It can also pixelate or remove objects to hide sensitive information on the screen.
In addition, Shottr supports screenshot text recognition (OCR) function and can even read QR codes, making it easy to copy text that cannot be selected to the clipboard. Users can also pin screenshots to the top as a floating window, making it easy to keep references or store screenshots temporarily. The screenshot annotation feature allows adding text, freehand drawing, highlighting, and other visual effects. You can also overlay images on screenshots, create translucent overlays, or generate before-and-after animations.
The Shottr also includes a screen ruler and magnifying glass function, making it easy to measure screen size and zoom in on details. Its on-screen color picker feature gives users the ability to copy the color of pixels under the mouse. Shottr also supports saving screenshots to a designated folder to help users organize their desktops.
